Verdict

Bose engineers spent over four years developing this product and they definitely got things right the second time around. This is by far one of the best bluetooth speakers out there today if not all time; we highly recommend going with this model if you’re looking for something that balances high-quality audio with portability.

The Bose Soundlink Revolve has a slick, modern design that looks like something Apple would release. The rubberized exterior feels durable even when wet but also easy to grip without being sticky while having good shock absorption properties for protection against drops or falls on hard surfaces.

Along with its durability, this speaker’s battery life lasts up to 13 hours between charges making it perfect for all-day use at festivals or out by the pool during summertime. It also comes with two input options: Bluetooth connection or traditional AUX.

The speaker is designed to work in any orientation and has 360-degree sound so no matter where you stand or point it at your music will fill every inch of space. It’s also water resistant, which means that wherever life takes you – your tunes can come too! The Soundlink Revolve comes in four attractive colors: black, navy, pink, and red.

Performance

Sound Quality

The sound quality on the Bose Soundlink Revolve 2 is great. The bass is deep and hits hard while the mids are crisp without being tinny at all. As you’d expect from Bose, there’s no distortion on any volume level from this speaker – even in its highest range of volumes.

The Revolve features two drivers, one tweeter, and one woofer in order to produce rich sound with deep bass. The result is an impressive 360 degrees from these speakers which are perfect if you’re planning on throwing a party outdoors or need music at your next BBQ!

The Revolve 2 thrives in most ranges but is less suited to low-bass.

“…it struggles to reproduce low-bass, so you can’t hear the thump and rumble in bass-heavy music like hip-hop and EDM.”

RTings

Volume

The volume of the Revolve 2 speaker is powerful and will fill a large room. It also has an equalizer, volume limiters for younger listeners and the ability to connect with up to two other Bluetooth devices at once so you can really crank it if you want.

This speaker’s controls are on top of the device instead of built into its body unlike some competitors which makes them hard to find when playing music outdoors in bright lighting or while wearing gloves. The only downside is that this means there are no buttons should anything go wrong such as running out of battery power – but luckily Bose have included voice prompts like “Battery low” with each notification sound.

Connectivity

The Revolve 2 speaker has a range of up to 100 feet from the device it is paired with, which means you can take your music anywhere. The speaker also supports NFC for quick connection and Bluetooth devices are supported too in addition to auxiliary input cables so you can connect any non-Bluetooth device if necessary.

This speaker includes handsfree calling functionality which means you’ll be able to take calls out loud by connecting your phone via Bluetooth. You won’t need to worry about looking down at your screen once again! It does have one flaw though in that its built-in microphone isn’t great when compared with other speakers on the market.

The SoundLink Revolve 2 includes an auxiliary line-in port which allows you to connect any audio device with a headphone port, giving it more versatility than other speakers.

Battery Life

The battery life on this model is an impressive 13 hours at mid volume but will last less than half that at maximum volume – still more than some competitors though! It takes about three hours for a full charge and includes a USB cable in the box as well as wall charger adapter plugs included.

Build Quality

It’s really hard to fault the build quality of this product. It has a sturdy metal grill and rubberized exterior that feel extremely durable so it should be able to withstand knocks and drops quite well.

What’s Changed from Previous Versions?

Not a whole heap has changed from the original Resolve.

The IP rating has changed from IPX4 to IP55, adding a little more protection from the elements.

The buttons on top have been moved to one side so they can be pushed with index finger rather than thumb and some new LED indicators added around them. The rubberized exterior has also changed, now feeling smoother which is good for gripping but less grippy in wet or dusty conditions.

Users have also found that the charging time is much quicker on this model.

Alternatives

Bose Soundlink Micro

If you like the portability of the Revolve 2, consider the Soundlink Micro. It has an upgraded waterproof rating (IPX7) and weighs in at only 300g.

It does, however, only have half the battery life and in terms of power only has 7.5 watts versus the 17 watts on the Revolve 2.This translates to it not having the same level of audio clarity and volume.

The Micro is about half the price of the Revolve 2, however, so it might be a good choice if you’re looking to save some money but still get something with higher audio quality than what’s on offer from competitors like JBL or Anker.

UE Boom 3

Compared to the Bose Revolve 2, the UE Boom 3 is a little more versatile.

It has decent battery life (15 hours) and is waterproof, but it only weighs 600g (vs 960g) and has a superior waterproof rating, so is more suited to adventures.

The UE Boom 3 is likely to have inferior sound quality than the Revolve, and also has lower power output.

Note also that the UE Boom 3 lacks the Aux input found on the Revolve 2.
